Comprehensive Treatment for Severe Headache and Neck Pain

– A Case Involving the Cervicocranial Mandibular Complex –

A patient recently visited our clinic with severe, diffuse headaches and intense pain in the cervical region. Despite having received treatments at multiple medical facilities, the symptoms had persisted, significantly affecting daily life.

At the first visit, the patient reported pain levels of 9–10 out of 10, along with stiffness and a sense of pressure around the junction between the head and neck. Concentration difficulties were also noted.

Clinical assessment suggested a subtle structural imbalance of the Cervicocranial Mandibular Complex, particularly involving the upper cervical spine (C1 and C2). Based on these findings, we designed an integrated treatment plan tailored to the patient’s condition.

Treatment Approach

A combination of therapies was applied to address both the structural and soft tissue components of the problem:

  • ✅ Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care – Gentle and precise adjustments of C1 and C2 to restore alignment and improve joint stability

  • ✅ Myofascial Release Therapy – Relieving tension in the suboccipital and cervical muscles to reduce pain and improve mobility

  • ✅ Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) – Targeting deep muscular trigger points to enhance blood flow and restore muscle function

  • ✅ Selected Injection Therapy – Applied appropriately to manage inflammation and pain based on the patient’s specific needs

After three treatment sessions, the patient reported significant improvement, with pain reduced to 3 out of 10 and a notable decrease in neck stiffness and head pressure. The patient continues with follow-up care to maintain these results and prevent recurrence.
