A Case of Cervical Disc Herniation Improved After Only Three Integrated Treatments

Diagnosis: Cervical disc herniation with upper thoracic myofascial pain
Treatment period: October 14 – October 22, 2024

🩺 Initial Condition

In mid-September, the patient first experienced upper back pain, arm numbness, and shoulder discomfort upon waking in the morning.
As time passed, the pain intensified—severely interfering with daily activities and even sleep.

She initially received injections and physical therapy at a local hospital but noted little improvement, only slight relief after the Chuseok holidays.

On October 14, she visited our clinic for the first time. Examination revealed marked restriction of cervical motion and tightness in the thoracic myofascial area.
We initiated an integrated treatment program combining:

  • Upper cervical (Occiput–C1–C2) chiropractic correction

  • Myofascial release therapy

  • IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation)

  • Targeted nerve and muscle injections

Progress:

  • After the 1st session: Neck movement became smoother and lighter; mild residual back pain.

  • After the 2nd session: Arm numbness and shoulder pain completely disappeared; back pain markedly reduced.

  • After the 3rd session: Both neck and back pain naturally resolved, and normal daily life was fully restored.

Following treatment, the patient continued regular stretching and posture correction exercises, maintaining excellent improvement.

After only three integrated treatments, the patient achieved:

  • Full recovery of neck and shoulder mobility

  • Complete resolution of pain and numbness

  • Normalization of sleep and daily activities
